Curtain up on the theatre of dreams!
On mountain summits, by the banks of lakes or on bridges: travellers in Switzerland can admire spectacular views from platforms constructed especially for them. And they obviously love striking a pose – whether in high jinks, with expressions of astonishment, or just happy to be there. The British photographer Simon Roberts delights in putting these tourists centre-stage in his photographs.

Whether in Montreux by the banks of Lake Geneva or in front of the Grindelwald panorama: Tourists themselves have become part of the view.
Here we see people posing on the natural viewing platform of the Creux du Van.
Some travellers have more specific interests than just admiring beautiful panoramas. Here, a group of ornithologists are on the lookout for bearded vultures on the Gemmi Pass near Leukerbad.
The ‘Royal Walk’ on the Männlichen mountain near Grindelwald is a truly regal experience. Either way, the man in the photo here seems to have found his princess.
Has the panorama disappeared from view? No matter! Even in the middle of a whiteout on the Schilthorn, there are still plenty of props for inventive selfies on the viewing platform.
